Business tycoon Sir Tom Hunter honoured

Sir Tom became Scotland's first home-grown billionaire in 2007

Business tycoon Sir Tom Hunter has received an honorary degree from Edinburgh University in recognition of his philanthropy.

He received his Honorary Degree of Doctor honoris causa in a ceremony at the McEwan Hall on Wednesday.

Sir Tom sold his first business, Sports Division, for £290m in 1998 at the age of 37 and was named as Scotland's first home-grown billionaire in 2007.

He has donated millions to good causes through his Hunter Foundation.
