Man hit and killed by 30mph train

A man has died after being hit by a train near a station in Fife.

The 22-year-old local man was knocked down at about 1915 GMT on Monday, 800 yards from Markinch station.

The British Transport Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report was being sent to the procurator fiscal.

The man was hit by the 1846 GMT Dundee to Edinburgh train, which was travelling at about 30mph as it had just left the station.
