The police cordon was lifted at about 2200 BST
A 27-year-old man is due to appear in court following an incident at a flat in Edinburgh city centre on Wednesday evening. Officers sealed off streets around Caledonian Place for four hours, after being called to deal with what was described as a "hostile male". Following negotiations with police, the cordon was lifted at about 2200 BST and the man was detained. He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday. Lothian and Borders Police said nobody was injured in the incident.
