Body of man found in city centre

Part of the street has been cordoned off while inquiries are carried out

A man's body has been found in Edinburgh city centre, a short distance from Princes Street.

The discovery was made on Tuesday morning outside a basement flat in North Castle Street.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said their inquiries were at an early stage.

The spokesman added that officers were trying to establish the cause of the man's death. Part of the street has been cordoned off.
