Second teenager dies after crash

A teenage girl who was critically ill in hospital after a crash which killed an 18-year-old boy has died.

Zak (known as Jack) Chan had been driving his blue Mazda on the outskirts of Edinburgh on Tuesday night when he hit a tree.

Mr Chan died early on Wednesday morning. His passenger Emily Chan, 18, had been in a critical condition in the Western General Hospital.

Police said Ms Chan, who had serious head injuries, died on Friday.

The accident happened as torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning struck the area, which is prone to flooding.
