Motorbiker dies after lorry crash

Police officer
Police are calling for witnesses to the crash to come forward

A motorcyclist has died after he was involved in a collision with a skip-loader lorry in Edinburgh.

Keith Henderson, 49, from Bonnyrigg, died following the crash on Lasswade Road at about 0910 BST on Saturday.

The lorry was making a delivery when the crash took place. Mr Henderson was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, but died from his injuries.

The road was closed for about four hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.

Police want to trace the driver of a blue car, possibly a Citroen, which overtook the lorry while it was stopped in the street.

They also want to talk to a motorcyclist who was on a black or red coloured bike which passed just before the crash.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeman said: "We are keen to talk to both drivers, as we believe they may have vital information that could help us piece together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

"We would appeal for anyone with any information to get in touch."
