Hopes raised in OAP relative hunt

Police searching for relatives of an OAP whose body lay in her Edinburgh flat for up to five years are following a "positive line of inquiry".

Isabella Purves, who was found in her Rodney Street top-floor flat, would have been 90 this year.

Officers said they had received a good response to an appeal for information.

Police found her body on Tuesday 30 June as they investigated a water leak following complaints from a neighbour living below.

They had to push past a large volume of mail to enter the flat in the Cannonmills area. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police made a plea for relatives to get in touch following the discovery, which shocked people living in the area.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: "We have had a good response to the media appeal for information and are following a positive line of inquiry."
