Billy Connolly is set to play four dates at Edinburgh's Usher Hall in September
Billy Connolly fans are being urged to try buying tickets on Tuesday after an Edinburgh venue's website and phoneline crashed. Tickets to see the famous comic on four September dates at the Usher Hall went on sale at 1000 BST on Monday. But a BT technical fault stopped fans getting through to buy the tickets. Six dates at the end of September and into October have sold out at Glasgow's SECC's Clyde Auditorium, which holds 3,000 people. Deidre Brock, Edinburgh City Council's culture convenor, said: "As anticipated, tickets to see Billy Connolly at the Usher Hall this September are proving extremely sought-after. "Unfortunately there has been a technical fault with a telephone line which is affecting ticket transactions. We are working closely with BT to resolve this as a matter of urgency. "We would like to apologise to any members of the public who were unable to buy tickets on Monday. "We would like to reassure people that there are still tickets available for these shows." Connolly is to play the Usher Hall on 19, 20, 22 and 23 September.
