A teenager has been treated in hospital after a man smashed a bottle into his face during an attack in West Lothian.

The 18-year-old and a friend were walking back from the BP garage in Bathgate after buying cigarettes when they got into an argument with a man.

They walked to Blackburn Road and again met the man, who carried out the attack at about 0200 BST.

The victim, who sustained a two inch cut to his forehead, was taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston.

The attacker was described as being white, about 24 years old, with brown hair, and of skinny build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black writing and blue jeans.
