Racehorse freed in motorway drama

A racehorse had to be cut free from its horsebox by firefighters on the M8 late on Monday.

Trade Price had been placed third at 20-1 in the 2125 race at Musselburgh.

Police said the vehicle pulled in on the hard shoulder near Hermiston Gate in Lothian about 2300 BST but the three-year-old horse had got trapped.

A vet was called while firefighters used a special saw to cut through the partition to free Trade Price who was unharmed.

The horse is trained by Carluke based Ian Semple.
