A man accused of murdering an Edinburgh woman whose head and bones were found in a shopping bag has made a second appearance in court.

Alan Cameron, 54, appeared in private on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court where he was fully committed on charges of murder.

He is alleged to have killed 44-year-old Heather Stacey between 29 November and 11 December 2007.

Cameron, from Edinburgh, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He is also facing charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice and breach of the peace.

Ms Stacey's remains were found in a blue Ikea bag near a footpath at Hawthornvale, Newhaven, Edinburgh, on Hogmanay.

Her body was so badly decomposed she had to be identified using DNA.
