A lottery winner in Edinburgh is sitting on a jackpot of almost £3m - but does not know it yet.

National Lottery organisers are hunting for an Edinburgh ticket holder who matched six numbers and scooped the huge sum in the Saturday 28 March draw.

Players are being urged to double check their tickets so they do not miss out on the life-changing prize of £2,783,114.

The winning numbers are 2, 17, 19, 28, 31, 47.

A National Lottery spokesman said: "We're desperate to find this mystery ticket holder and unite them with their winnings - this amazing prize could really make a difference to somebody's life.

"We're urging everyone to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding."

The ticket holder has until 1730 BST on 24 September to make the claim.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket should call the National Lottery Line.

If unclaimed, the prize money will go to the Good Causes fund.
