Woman escapes after night attack

Police are investigating an assault on a 22-year-old woman while she was walking alone at night in Edinburgh.

She was able to fend off her attacker and flee without serious injury but the woman was said to be deeply traumatised by her ordeal.

The attack happened at 0110 GMT on Sunday in the Hopetoun Crescent area.

The suspect was described as male, white, between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall, in his late 30s, of medium build with a bald or shaven head.
