Flat fire treated as 'suspicious'

A man and woman have been treated for smoke inhalation after a "suspicious" fire in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews were called to Coatfield Lane in Leith after the fire broke out at 0715 GMT on Friday.

A 34-year-old male and 25-year-old female were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but neither needed to go to hospital.

A police spokesman said the incident was being treated as "suspicious" and appealed for witnesses.

He added: "Fortunately there was no one injured during this incident, nevertheless we are treating this extremely seriously."
