Porn probe head teacher resigns

A head teacher who is alleged to have been caught in possession of child pornography has resigned from his post.

Fife Council said David Wilson quit as rector of Auchmuty High in Glenrothes last week.

Mr Wilson appeared on petition at Paisley Sheriff Court in December charged with possessing indecent photographs of children.

He was released on bail while the case continued and is expected to appear in court again later this year.

In a statement, Fife Council confirmed Mr Wilson's resignation.

Executive director of education Kenneth Greer said: "I can confirm that David Wilson has resigned from his post as head teacher of Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes.

"The post is now being advertised and in the meantime Ian Thompson will continue in the role of acting head teacher."

At the time of Mr Wilson's court appearance, letters were sent by the school to parents of its 1,200 pupils.

Mr Wilson had been appointed head teacher of Auchmuty, one of three high schools in Glenrothes, almost three years ago.

Hollywood star Dougray Scott is a former pupil of the school.
