Fife Council has suspended Mr Wilson from his post

The head teacher of a Fife high school has appeared in court charged with possessing child pornography, it has emerged.

David Wilson, 47, has been suspended as rector of Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes.

He appeared in private before a sheriff in his home town of Paisley on 22 December.

Mr Wilson made no plea and the case was continued for further examination and the accused was granted bail.

Fife Council's executive director of education Ken Greer said: "I can confirm that a member of staff has been suspended pending a disciplinary investigation."

Mr Wilson, who is thought to have made the 150-mile round trip from Paisley daily, was appointed head teacher of Auchmuty, one of three high schools in Glenrothes, almost three years ago.
