Elderly man dies in house blaze

An elderly man has died in a fire in a house in Glenrothes, Fife, during the early hours of Sunday.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at Banchory Green by concerned neighbours at about 0330 BST.

An inquiry has been launched into the cause of the blaze which took about an hour to extinguish.

Fire crews also attended a second fire at a property in Glenrothes. No-one was hurt during the incident at Inveraray Avenue.
