Detectives have renewed their appeal for information after the body of a man was found at a house in Fife.

Mark White, 31, was discovered at his home in Altyre Avenue, Glenrothes, at about noon on Thursday.

Following a post-mortem examination on Friday, Det Supt Alistair McKeen, of Fife Constabulary, said the death was still being treated as suspicious.

He added that further investigations into the exact circumstances of Mr White's death would take place.

"Over the next few days we will be carrying out a thorough examination of Mark's flat," he said. "It is also essential that we establish his movements in the days before he died.

"Thanks to the public we are now following a number of positive lines of inquiry and we urge people to keep coming forward as any piece of information could be important." Friends placed floral tributes outside the door of the house.

Concerns were raised when Mark's father, who lives in England, did not receive his usual weekly call from his son.

It is believed Mr White's body had been in his home for some days.

Det Supt McKeen said despite having a learning disability, Mark had lived an independent life and had been very popular with his neighbours.

"He was an enormously likeable young man who always had a smile and time to help his neighbours," he said.

Stuart Menzies, community inspector for the Glenrothes area, said he was keen to reassure the public there was no need for alarm.

"There will continue to be a uniformed police presence in the area for the immediate future to provide reassurance to local residents," he said.
