Woman, 85, dies after collision

An 85-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car in the south of Edinburgh.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the pedestrian was hit at about 1615 GMT. The woman, who has not be named, died at the scene.

The incident involved a red Volkswagen Golf, being driven by a 29-year-old female driver.

The road was closed for more than four hours to allow a specialist accident investigation.
