Three schools are to be shut down

Three primary schools in Edinburgh are to be closed down after councillors voted in favour of a report recommending they are shut.

Bonnington and Lismore Primary schools will close by Christmas in a bid to help solve the problem of 9,500 free primary places across the city.

Lord Provost George Grubb had the casting vote deciding Westburn Primary School should close by the summer.

Primary schools have seen a 19% drop in numbers in the past 10 years.
