Dozens of drivers in the Maybury area of Edinburgh have been stopped by police trying to trace a missing man.

Lothian and Borders Police officers spoke to more than 200 motorists in a bid to find 64-year-old Alan Goulden.

The father-of two has been missing for a week. He was last seen on Maybury Road between 0630 and 0730 BST on Saturday 30 August.

Insp Murray Dykes said their efforts had not produced any information on where Mr Goulden might be.

The drivers were shown a photograph of the missing man, whose disappearance was described as being "out of character" by police.

Officers later spoke to members of the public in the Maybury area, where Mr Goulden lives.
