A new website promoting Scotland by offering free video downloads of dozens of places across the country has been hailed by tourism chiefs.

Wondras is the brainchild of an Edinburgh man hoping to dispel myths about Scotland amongst potential tourists across the world.

Shaun Brown hopes by showing people moving footage of places in Scotland it will encourage more people to visit.

VisitScotland has predicted the new site could be a "hit" for Scotland.

Sinead Guerin, VisitScotland regional director, said: "The website highlights the rich heritage, culture and natural environment Scotland is famed for.

"The wealth of pictures shows Scotland in all its glory and whether the site is used for visitors reminiscing about their time spent in Scotland or attracting potential visitors it's sure to be a hit."

Mr Brown, 28, Wondras web producer, said: "I was on holiday last year and this local man asked me how we maintain all our thatched roofs back home in Scotland.

"I couldn't believe he didn't know that Scotland has cities and that we don't all eat haggis and wear kilts.

"So I decided to travel around the country filming Scotland so that people around the world can get a better idea of what it is like.

"And I have added a special item on the site where people can vote on places they want to have featured and I will film the most requested before adding them to the website."
