A hairdresser has gone on trial accused of stealing £76,000 of equipment and products from an Edinburgh chain and selling them on an internet site.

Mark McMorrine, 37, is alleged to have stolen hair irons and products from two Charlie Miller salons in South St Andrew Street and Ocean Terminal.

He is also charged with obtaining £63,000 by fraud by selling the stolen items on eBay during the same period.

He denies all the charges between December 2004 and September 2006.

McMorrine, of Lasswade, Midlothian, is on trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

The trial, before Sheriff Derrick McIntyre, continues.
