Police fear for missing pensioner

Mary Ferns has been missing since Tuesday morning

Concern has been mounting for a deaf and partially blind elderly woman who has been missing from her West Lothian home for more than 24 hours.

Mary Ferns, 88, disappeared from her home in the Howden area of Livingston on Tuesday morning.

She is white, 5ft 3in tall, of slim build, with short grey hair and green eyes.

She was last seen wearing a brown three-quarter-length jacket, brown skirt and brown shoes.

She was carrying a brown handbag and may also have a blue floral walking stick with a brass handle.

When last seen she was believed to be heading for Almondvale Shopping Centre.

A police spokesman said: "We are very concerned for Mrs Fern's safety and wellbeing.

"We would urge anyone who may have seen her since Tuesday morning to contact us immediately."
