Dock ship blaze 'may last days'

Viking Vulcan on fire
The Viking Vulcan is docked with other vessels in Leith

Firefighters said a blaze on-board a ship in Edinburgh's Leith docks may continue to burn for several days.

The fire, which is on the accommodation section of the Viking Vulcan, was reported at about 0430 BST on Sunday.

Two appliances and 15 firefighters are still at the scene and are dousing the ship to try to keep it cool.

The volume of water being pumped into the vessel is being monitored amid fears that it could overload the ship and cause it to sink.

Fire officers said all water put into the boat is having to be pumped back out.
