Fringe box office hit by glitch

Face-to-face sales were also suspended

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe box office will be out of action until at least Monday due to technical problems.

Staff blamed a glitch in the new system for the problems, which meant that online booking for the August event failed to open on Monday as planned.

Telephone and face-to-face bookings were also suspended to allow the whole system to be overhauled.

A festival spokesman said an update would be posted on the website. Tickets are available directly from venues.

This year's Fringe features 31,320 performances of 2,088 shows in 247 venues.

Festival spokesman Duncan Fraser said "We are determined to have box office services operating as soon as possible.

"We will post an update on the website on Monday 16 June at 10am.

"In the meantime, some venues are able to sell shows for the fringe. Please go to edfringe.com for a full list of venues and contact details."
