Two children's rides have been stolen from retail parks in Edinburgh.

A 'Buzz' ride from the children's television programme Tractor Tom was taken from outside the Argos store at Fort Kinnaird on Saturday morning.

About 20 minutes later, at 1050 BST, a Bob the Builder ride was taken from outside the Big W store at Milton Link.

In both cases, a white saloon car with a connecting trailer pulled up outside the store. Police said the driver got out and put the ride in the trailer.

It is thought a woman may have been in the passenger seat.

The man is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, with shaved grey receding hair. He was wearing a t-shirt with grey and white hoops, dark jeans, and white trainers.

A police spokeswoman said: "This man has brazenly stolen these rides from right outside the stores at a time the car parks and entrances would have been busy with shoppers.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have been at either of the stores, and saw what happened, to get in touch".
