A toddler has been treated for the potentially fatal E.coli O157 infection, health officials confirmed.

The two-year-old, who is from west Fife, is recovering at home after being treated for the condition. No other related cases have been found.

The incubation period for E.coli O157 is usually between one and 14 days and experts are urging vigilance.

Symptoms of the infection can include diarrhoea, feeling sick, vomiting, stomach pain and fever.
