Police release e-fit of attacker

Suspect
The female attacker is white, about 30 years old and slim

An e-fit image of a woman who is being sought over an unprovoked stabbing in Edinburgh has been released.

The 36-year-old female victim was stabbed at about 2100 BST on 29 April, as she walked home along the north footpath to New Swanston.

She required hospital treatment for a stomach wound, but has since been released from hospital.

Lothian and Borders Police have been hunting a man and a woman in connection with the stabbing.

The female attacker is white, about 30 years old, and slim with shoulder-length dark brown lank hair.

At the time of the attack she was wearing a black three-quarter length jacket and jeans. She also appeared to be shaky and under the influence of drugs.

The man is white, about 40 years old, and also had the appearance of being under the influence of drugs.

The victim of this apparently motiveless attack has assisted police by helping to compile an e-fit image of the suspect.
