Driver killed after car hits wall

A young chef has been killed in Fife after his car left the road and hit a boundary wall.

Shobit Motwani, 23, who was travelling alone, was fatally injured during the crash at about 0020 BST on the A917 Boarhills to St Andrews road.

The road was closed for several hours while Fife Constabulary carried out a road crash investigation.

Mr Motwani, an employee of the Fairmont St Andrews hotel, was driving home after his shift when he crashed.

The police are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the crash to contact them.

Meanwhile a driver has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with back injuries following a crash between a Vauxhall Astra van and a Ford Transit van on the A720 at Mauricewood Road to Lower Den in Midlothian.

The incident near Hillend happened at 0720 BST on Tuesday and the road was reopened by the police at 0920 BST.
