The Forth Road Bridge was left deserted
The Forth Road Bridge has reopened after being closed for hours while an overturned lorry was removed from the road.

The truck was struck by a huge gust of wind measuring about 69mph as it was travelling north to Fife.

The bridge had been closed to double decker buses and had a 40mph speed restriction in place.

The accident happened at about 1110 GMT with the southbound carriageway reopening at 1430 GMT.

A Feta spokesman said the northbound carriageway was opened at about 1615 GMT after damage, caused by the lorry, was fixed.

He said: "We were not diverting vehicles because winds were not at levels where we normally do that.

"There was a freak gust of wind when the lorry was halfway across the bridge."

The lorry driver suffered slight injuries and was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
