Police are appealing for witnesses
An armed attacker has stolen a pensioner's car after forcing his way into her house in Edinburgh.

The 70-year-old victim opened her door to the man, who then entered the house and demanded money.

When she tried to push him away he produced a knife, but the OAP's daughter appeared and managed to push the man out of the front door.

He then stole the victim's blue Honda Jazz car, which had been parked outside her home in Parkgrove Drive.

While the victim and her daughter showed considerable bravery in forcing the suspect from their home, they were still extremely shaken as a result of their ordeal

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about 2155 GMT on Monday.

A police spokesman said: "While the victim and her daughter showed considerable bravery in forcing the suspect from their home, they were still extremely shaken as a result of their ordeal.

"We want anyone who was in the area last night and noticed anything suspicious to contact police urgently.

"Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who has any information that can assist our inquiries, should also get in touch immediately."

The attacker is white, 5ft 7ins, 19 to 25 years old, of medium build, with dark spiky hair, dark eyes, dark eyebrows, and a round face.

He was wearing a woollen zip-up top, which had black and white stripes, and a thick collar.

He also wore blue jeans, and had an Edinburgh accent.
