The express Burns Supper will take about 15 minutes
|
Hundreds of passengers arriving at Edinburgh Airport are expected to take part in what is being billed as the "fastest" Burns supper in Scotland.
The nearby Hilton Hotel has created an express version of the meal in a bid to promote the traditional dish to visitors between flights.
The 15-minute meal includes haggis, turnip and mashed potato - as well as a "wee dram" of whisky.
It also has airport information screens to ensure diners catch their flights.
Aqua ceilidh
Michael Squire, general manager at the Hilton Edinburgh Airport, said: "Robert Burns is a Scottish icon and we want to allow everyone visiting the country, no matter how brief their visit, the chance to raise a toast to the bard.
"Edinburgh Airport welcomes over nine million passengers every year and flies to over 100 destinations and Hilton Edinburgh Airport's head chef, Daniel Leah, will be going all out to make sure that everyone has time for a Burns supper."
It follows aqua ceilidhs, which were held at four Edinburgh Leisure swimming pools across the city for Burns Day.
Over 100 reelers took part in the event at leisure centres in Gracemount, Drumbrae, the Royal Commonwealth Pool and Portobello Swim Centre.
Adjustable floors allowed the entire pools' depth to be reduced for the dancers.
