Police arrest airport protesters
Protesters from Plane Stupid at Edinburgh Airport
The activists targeted the Greer Aviation building at the airport
Ten environmental protesters have been arrested and charged after a demonstration at Edinburgh Airport on Monday morning.

The activists, from the group Plane Stupid, were protesting against the private jet company Greer Aviation.

About 20 people took part in the demonstration, dressed in smart suits and miniature white wings.

The eight men and two women, aged between 19 and 24, will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

The group targeted the building of private jet company Greer Aviation, carrying banners reading: "This planet has no emergency exits."

No disruption

Two clambered onto the roof of the building and others blockaded the doors from about 0830 GMT.

Officers from Lothian and Borders Police made the arrests at 1230 GMT.

Airport operator BAA said the buildings belonging to the company were not close to the main terminal and the protest caused no disruption for travellers.

A Plane Stupid spokeswoman said: "The majority of aviation growth stems from the demand of the wealthiest 10%, and this is why we target private jet use."

Greer Aviation refused to comment.
