Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact them
A pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a car in Leven, Fife, has been named locally as Alan Mitchell.

The 47-year-old died when he was hit by a Peugeot 205 car on Kennoway Road, just on the outskirts of Leven.

The accident happened at 2315 GMT on Monday. The road was closed for more than 12 hours while an investigation was carried out by police.

It is understood that Mr Mitchell had been due to marry. His fiancee was being comforted by relatives.

Police in Fife said they wanted to hear from anybody who witnessed the accident, close to the Linnwood Drive junction.
