Woman killed in US 'hit-and-run'

A man has been arrested after a 24-year-old Edinburgh woman was killed in an alleged hit-and-run in New York.

Julia Thomson, who was living in Manhattan's East Village, was crossing a street in the area on Sunday morning when the crash happened.

Tenzing Bhutai, 21, from Queens, was arrested on Sunday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.

Ms Thomson was pronounced dead at St Vincent's Hospital, Manhattan.
