Fife Constabulary is appealing for witnesses
Police have released the name of a man who fell to his death in a quarry in Fife at the weekend.

Bryce Harron, 40, died when he fell into a quarry in Cardenden on Sunday at 2100 BST. He was attempting to walk home after a car crash.

Police made the discovery after being called out to investigate the crash on the Cardenden to Kinglassie road.

It is understood Mr Harron was one of the people who discovered Britain's first case of bird-flu.

He was among those who found the dead swan at Cellardyke in Fife in 2006 which sparked a national health alert.

The road crash involved a blue Rover 800 car. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Fife Constabulary said Mr Harron was a well-known and well-liked member of the community who had enjoyed hill walking.

His mother Janet said: "Bryce loved life and was loved by his family who will miss him always."
