Mobile snatched from cinema-goer
Omni Centre
The victim was on her way to the Omni Centre when she was attacked
A woman has been assaulted and robbed of her mobile phone as she walked to an Edinburgh cinema.

The 27-year-old victim was walking in Leith Street on Sunday at about 2000 BST, on her way to watch a film at the Omni Centre.

She was using her mobile phone when she was approached by a man who attacked her and grabbed the device.

He ran off into Greenside Place and Royal Terrace, and entered London Road Gardens before disappearing.

The suspect has been described as white, 30 to 40 years old, with short brown hair and clean-shaven.

He was wearing a navy blue T-shirt with white writing or numbers on the back and light blue jeans.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "While the woman did not require any medical treatment, she was understandably shaken as a result of her ordeal.

"We want anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time and noticed the suspect, to contact police immediately."
