A plaque and exhibition commemorating the 'future' birth of Star Trek star James 'Scotty' Doohan in Linlithgow has been officially unveiled by his widow.

Wende Doohan, the widow of actor who played the SS Enterprise's chief engineer, was at the occasion to uncover the memorial.

The Canadian actor died in 2005, but calls have since been made to organise a tribute to his fictional hometown.

The plaque and exhibition is located in Annet House Museum in Linlithgow.

Scripts from the original series reveal that the Scottish character, Montgomery Scott, was born in Linlithgow on 28 June, 2222.
