Fife Council is set to be run by a joint SNP-Liberal Democrat coalition

Fife Council is set to be run by a joint Scottish National Party and Liberal Democrat coalition, ending years of Labour control.

The two parties hold 44 of the 78 seats on the authority.

It will put the Nationalists and Lib Dems in control of the council area where the Chancellor Gordon Brown has his constituency.

The agreement has still to be ratified at a meeting of the full council on Thursday.
