Man in court over teenager death

A 21-year old man has appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with the murder of 16-year old Christopher Bruce at the weekend.

David Cooper made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Charles Stoddart.

The accused made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further inquiry.

Mr Cooper was remanded in custody. A 28-year-old man, who was also questioned by police, was released.

The teenager was found injured in the Craigmillar area of the city, at about 0315 BST on Saturday after reports of a stabbing.

He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Mr Bruce, known as CJ, was from Castlebrae Glebe in Edinburgh.
