We would take this opportunity to reassure the public, particularly in Corstorphine, that incidents like this, involving firearms, are rare
A police spokeswoman

Police were continuing their door-to-door inquiries on Monday and searches at the crime scene were ongoing.

An incident room has been set up at Corstorphine Police Station.

A police spokeswoman said: "It is unclear what the motive for this attack was and we are very keen to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything outside the Clermiston Inn or in the Drum Brae Drive area at about 2330 GMT on Sunday.

"The function room was extremely busy last night with people celebrating Hibs winning the CIS cup.

"Many people had travelled to and from the football game at Hampden on chartered buses and we would be particularly keen to trace anyone who returned to Corstorphine and attended the function at the Clermiston Inn.

"We would take this opportunity to reassure the public, particularly in Corstorphine, that incidents like this, involving firearms, are rare."
