Mugger wrestled OAP to the ground
A man who wrestled a pensioner to the ground and robbed her in Edinburgh is being hunted by police.

The 81-year-old, who uses a walking stick, was on her way to church when she was attacked at about 1045 BST in Murrayburn Road on Sunday.

She had her handbag wrestled from her grasp, which caused her to fall and hurt herself. She is at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a hip injury.

The attacker is white, 5ft 5ins, young and with a very slim build.

He was wearing a light coloured baseball cap, beige jacket and light-coloured jeans.

After the attack, he ran off up a grass verge onto the Union Canal towpath and in the direction of Wester Hailes Road.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who maybe saw the attacker or who recognises his description.

A police spokesman said: "The fact that this woman was carrying a walking stick made this a particularly callous attack by someone who feels no shame about preying on vulnerable people.

"We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the incident to come forward and contact the police.

"We would also appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the culprit to contact the police."
