Grandparents' missing girl appeal
Danielle Sweeney
Danielle Sweeney went missing on Saturday
The grandparents of a 15-year-old girl missing from her Fife home since before Hogmanay have appealed for her to return home.

Danielle Sweeney, who lives with her grandparents in Springfield, was last seen by friends boarding a service bus to Stirling on Saturday evening.

A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said because of her age the teenager was considered vulnerable.

CCTV has shown Danielle being met by a young man, as she arrived in Stirling.

Varying stories

Jean Fitzwater, Danielle's grandmother, said: "We just want her to come home. She isn't going to get into any trouble if she just comes home."

Danielle's grandfather, Colin Fitzwater, said: "Everything was fine over Christmas. Then on Saturday we left her to do her messages and she said she would be home by 1700 GMT to walk the dogs.

"So there was nothing outward we could pick up on to suggest anything like that.

"It wasn't until late on Saturday night when we started getting varying stories from her friends that we called the police and they investigated and found out Danielle had got on a bus.

"There was no reason in the world for her to go to Stirling as there is nobody that I know of that she knows in Stirling."

Sgt Martin Johncock, of Cupar Police, said: "Due to her age, Danielle is vulnerable and we are keen to trace her.

"If anyone has seen her or has any information that could assist us in tracing her I urge them to contact the police."

When she left her house she was wearing a brown, velvet-effect Rocco jogging suit, with a brown, leather zip-up jacket, which had a brown fur hood.

She was wearing white and pink/purple Nike trainers with a Nike tick on the sides, and was carrying a brown "glittery" bag with a pair of blue jeans inside.

She usually wears glasses, but was wearing contact lenses at the time.

She may have changed her clothes and could be wearing a dark green/blue navy mini skirt which has a slight flare at the bottom, black footless tights and black dolly shoes.
