The police have appealed for calm after three men were found guilty of murdering a former boxing champion at an Edinburgh pub.
Det Ch Supt Iain Livingstone, who led the murder hunt following the killing of Alex McKinnon, warned people "not to take the law into their own hands".
Mr McKinnon's brother-in-law James Hendry was hurt in the Marmion attack.
An attempt was made on the life of one of the convicted men, James Bain, following the shooting.
Mr Livingstone said: "Any further reprisals or repercussions will be met with a full police response."
Extra police patrols, which began after the incident in April would continue, said Mr Livingstone, the newly appointed head of Lothian and Borders CID.

This has ruined our two innocent children's lives, having to grow up without their father and having to face what has happened to their dad

After Thursday's verdict he said: "We wanted to reassure the public in Edinburgh that extreme violence such as this, and shootings, have no place in our community.
"I hope the verdicts today will give the public that reassurance."
Mr McKinnon's wife Louisa said: "They had no right in taking this wonderful man's life. I feel no sentence is high enough for cold blooded murder and capital punishment should be brought back for the likes of them.
"My Alex loved life so much and he had so much yet still to do. This has ruined our two innocent children's lives, having to grow up without their father and having to face what has happened to their dad."
Mr Livingstone said extra police patrols would continue

"They are so evil. I have never seen such evil people in my entire life."
"We don't want anything else. We want justice. We got justice today."
Jacob Hendry, 56, whose son-in-law Mr McKinnon died and whose son, James Hendry, 27, was wounded, warmly thanked police and prosecutors following the court result on Thursday.
He said: "Justice has been done today. We can now put it to rest. It will never bring Alex back.
"He was a wonderful man and I am left with two grandchildren without a father, but I will do my best to bring these two up with my daughter.
"I want to make it crystal clear that I, personally, as head of my family, I have no vengeance in me, none at all.
"Justice has been done and we must move forward now and put this to rest."
