College overhaul plans unveiled
Plans for a £50m redevelopment of Jewel and Esk Valley College have been unveiled in the Scottish Parliament.

The project aims to bring state-of-the-art learning facilities to East Lothian by 2009.

The plans include a new campus at Eskbank, Midlothian, and a combined new build and refurbishment package for the existing campus at Milton Road.

The Edinburgh East and Musselburgh MSP Susan Deacon played host to the launch event on Tuesday

The work will be carried out by Miller Construction.

Work on the new buildings is expected to commence in spring 2007 and take two years to complete.

Jewel and Esk principal Howard McKenzie said: "We are undertaking a project that has been carefully and painstakingly assembled to produce buildings that work."
