Teenager in court over Jack death

A teenager has appeared on petition in court charged with the culpable homicide of Jack Anderson in Edinburgh.

Michael Adam Purcell, 19, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff David Hall at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further inquiry. Mr Purcell was remanded in custody on Thursday.

Mr Purcell's appearance in court follows the death of Jack Anderson, 10, in Saughton Road North on 5 October.

Lothian and Borders Police are still trying to trace two other men.

Mr Purcell faces six charges, one theft, three attempted thefts, one charge of culpable homicide, and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A funeral service for Jack is being held at the city's Mortonhall Crematorium on Friday at 1500 BST.
