East Lothian council is to resume regular street-sweeping in Tranent despite original plans to hold out until the weekend.
The council says it wants to tackle litter problems in its towns
Operations were suspended last Saturday as part of an anti-litter campaign.
The controversial initiative was aimed at driving home the anti-litter message and highlighting how much council workers have to clear up every day.
A spokesman said the council had made its point and would start cleaning up from Thursday.
