Events pose traffic challenge
Noel Gallagher
This could be Oasis' final tour
Police have warned of travel problems in Edinburgh this weekend caused by five major public events.

A tribute to the Queen Mother on Thursday evening is followed by separate concerts by Lionel Ritchie, Sir Elton John and Oasis.

Added to the list is the beginning of the new Scottish Premier League season, which includes a Hearts-Hibs derby football match.

Lothian and Borders assistant chief constable David Strang said: "We have been planning for this weekend for some time now and the preparations put in place should help ease any problems.

"Inevitably the Oasis concert will cause some traffic congestion but we have been working closely with the City of Edinburgh Council and the promoters to try to minimise disruption both to residents and fans alike."

About 53,000 fans were expected for the Oasis gig at Murrayfield on Saturday and police asked them to leave plenty time for their journey.

Limited parking has been made available at the stadium for 2,000 cars and 120 coaches. An alcohol ban would be enforced.

Oasis' series of summer shows around the UK could be the band's last.

Tynecastle
Tynecastle: Derby venue
Noel Gallagher has said he is unsure of his future with the group after a catalogue of rows with younger brother and frontman Liam.

The Castle Esplanade staged a Royal Tribute to the Queen Mother on Thursday night, followed by Lionel Ritchie's concert on Friday night.

Sir Elton's show is held in the same place on Sunday night.

Hearts and Hibs meet at Tynecastle at 1500BST on Sunday.
