Mr Martin has worked at the Herald since December 2008

The editor-in-chief of The Herald and Sunday Herald newspapers is to take charge of the Sunday Post.

Donald Martin, 45, replaces editor David Pollington at the Dundee paper, who took early retirement last year.

Mr Martin said: "The Sunday Post is a great family newspaper with a proud history."

He has been editor-in-chief at the Glasgow-based Herald since December 2008 and was previously editor of the Evening Times.

He was editor of the Aberdeen Evening Express for eight years and before that editor of the North West Evening Mail in Cumbria for four years.
